Organizing for a Good Contract
The Organizing Council will be more involved than ever this negotiation cycle, with the OC Chair supporting the negotiations head table. The OC will act as a liaison between what’s happening at the negotiations table, local leaders, and the contract action teams to ensure leaders have the information they need to mobilize members for future contract actions. The OC is also helping with the Leaders of the Contract Action Teams, or LCATs, who mobilize their regions for contract actions. This contract campaign will be an especially tough one. And it is going to take all of us to have conversations with our members to fight back - Get Involved!
Membership
Membership is the core aspect of being in a union. We need high membership numbers to fight for a fair contract. Recruitment and retention are a responsibility of everyone in MAPE. Leading the charge is the OC and the Membership Secretaries who conduct membership blitzes, track membership, train others on how to have one-on-one conversations and more. The Membership Secretaries are all locally elected positions. However, they convene as a statewide workgroup that is supported by the OC.

Organizing as a Steward Training
Besides a grievance, how else can we resolve problems with organizing? Stewards will learn how to move non-grievance issues into action by engaging their membership and utilizing common methods of organizing. Find upcoming trainings on the MAPE events page.
