MAPE PAC Endorses Walz/Flanagan

MAPE members want a governor who will help us put Minnesotans first, through adequate resources on the job and a fair contract to back us up,” MAPE President Megan Dayton said. “Our members expect strong support of our right to collectively bargain and a leader in the Capitol who will partner with us to provide the services all Minnesotans rely on.

“After engaging MAPE’s leaders and hearing from all members who desired input, MAPE’s PAC recently voted to support Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan for re-election.”

“Governor Walz values the work we do for Minnesota and has committed to working with us to find solutions around issues such as student loan debt, equity and inclusion, and resuming the conversation on unclassified appointments,” MAPE PAC Board Chair Monica Weber said. “No other candidate in this race has matched Walz’s level of commitment to ensure MAPE has a voice in decisions about the state workforce.

“We are proud to endorse the best candidates, Gov. Walz and Lt. Gov. Flanagan, to continue the tradition of respect for union workers regardless of their profession, upholding the Minnesota way of a strong workforce and dedication to union membership.”

“Throughout the past four years, our members have had high expectations of Governor Walz and demanded we ask the tough questions of him when considering an endorsement. He has demonstrated his willingness to continue improving our communication, being a defender of labor rights and champion for state workers and the services we provide,” added Dayton.

The MAPE PAC board has also endorsed Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon and State Auditor Julie Blaha for re-election.

MAPE represents more than 15,000 professional state government employees.
