Members enjoyed food and fellowship

According to Region 6 Director Nate Hierlmaier, “It’s hard to ask someone to walk a picket line or help take on a workplace issue if you don’t know their name and understand where they’re coming from.”

“Getting to know our fellow union members, and not-yet members, on a personal basis outside of work conversations is the best way to build the trust and loyalty we need to stand up for each other,” he added.

This is exactly what members from Locals 601, 602 and 901 did this past weekend as they gathered in West St. Paul for food, camaraderie and a food drive that is part of a year-long engagement initiative led by Region 6 leaders.

Region 6’s food drive collected about 1,570 non-perishable food items weighing 250 lbs.

Region 6’s food drive collected about 1,570 non-perishable food items weighing 250 pounds. The carload of food was donated to the Neighborhood House in St. Paul that has served immigrants, refugees and others in need for nearly 140 years.

Shout out to Local 602 Membership Secretary Sanderia Davis who coordinated the event and funding through the Union Power Project.
