Local 502 minutes May 17, 2018

Officers Present at the meeting
President, Tonya Fitzgerald, Treasurer, Vice President, Dan Kelly, Treasurer, Jane Wallace, Recording Secretary, Vernitta Moore.

1) Welcome and call to order:
Dan called meeting to order and presided over introductions.

Officers’ Reports:

a) Recording Secretary: Vernitta Moore
Minutes were approved.

b) Membership Secretary: Reported by Bill Shaffer
158 members, 10 associate members and 106 fee payers

Treasurer: Reported by Jane Wallace Indicated balance, YTD. $11,641.00.
May 22nd was Jane Wallace last day with DPS and 502 Treasurer.

c) Regional Director: John Bower
The Board met on 5/18. Discussing hiring two new BA’s. Urging Legislators to approve the pension bill. Negotiations will start up in a couple of months. MAPE seeks your input for next year’s legislative priorities.

Business Agent: Caitlyn Reid
May 31st is DPS membership blitz. Caitlyn will be conducting one on one all day with fee payors. Anyone who is interested in recruiting will get lost time. If you are interested in becoming a member just let one of the officers know and we will get you signed up. DPS MNIT employees expressed their concerns on the MNLARS project and hiring practices.

d) Steward: A lot of vacation grievances in 501 and 502. If your vacation has been denied let MAPE know just in case we need to do an Action.

Meet and Confer: Tonya Fitzgerald
Meet and Confer met on May 14th. The team met with Jodean Thronson and Lynn Mueller. Topics discussed was Private Sector Vacation credit, Phased Retirement, Investigations and Vacation conversion to deferred compensation.
