Join MAPE members in addressing wildfire working concerns.
Show your support! Minnesota DNR members who work on wildfire suppression need management to improve working conditions, including:
- unsafe conditions
- unsustainable scheduling
- burnout
This past fire season was extremely difficult for all Minnesotans but particularly those working on wildfire suppression. After the fires were under control we held a series of listening sessions. In those listening sessions, we learned of a variety of widely and deeply felt issues impacting foresters during the wildfire season.
Recently we have been meeting internally to develop a team of DNR leaders and now we are working to gather broad public support to show management and other stakeholders how serious this issue is to those on the front lines doing the work of keeping Minnesotans safe.
Some positive changes have occurred with the DNR Meet and Confer recently, yet there is more to fix. We want to continue what we've started and work to improve conditions for all working on wildfires in Minnesota.
