DHS Budget Survey

Publish Date

MAPE Members in DHS,

DHS is expecting a $27 million deficit this fiscal year, and a $96 million deficit in the next biennium. DHS Management has engaged with us on the budget conversation, and how we can alleviate the shortfall while preserving jobs and services. They are moving quickly and have asked for ideas by very early next week. We appreciate the opportunity to be at the table and shape these decisions proactively.

There are a lot of unknowns and no decisions have been made right now, but as we know more we will be communicating with you. It is important that we gather member input while the administration is still in the decision-making phase. Rather than bracing for impact, we are engaging for impact. The latter is self-empowering, forward-looking and planning for potential solutions that are member-generated.

DHS has asked us for our suggestions. We want to do all we can to preserve members’ jobs, and to keep DHS strong. We’re asking for your ideas. Please fill out this survey by 9 a.m. Monday, Aug.17.
