MAPE President Megan Dayton on $17.6B surplus
The Minnesota Association of Professional Employees (MAPE) urges Gov. Walz and state legislators to use the $17.6 billion budget surplus, announced in today’s budget forecast, to fully fund agencies and programs to keep Minnesotans healthy, supported and safe.
“Minnesota’s future depends on us making investments in our kids, our infrastructure, our state agencies and the services Minnesotans rely on,” MAPE President Megan Dayton said. “Agency budgets should reflect these comprehensive services and account for inflation. We must invest in Minnesotans through fully-funded and staffed state agencies.
“Nothing is holding us back from making crucial investments in the lives of workers, their families and our communities. MAPE members are eager to continue providing valuable services to all Minnesotans, and excited for the possibilities created by this surplus with a pro-labor majority in our House and Senate alongside Gov. Walz.”
