State-wide Agency Meet and Confer Application

Meet and confer teams operate most effectively when they are made up of a group of members from diverse backgrounds, agency divisions, and locations around the state. Team members represent all MAPE represented employees in the agency, so they must be able to relate to and understand issues employees are having in all aspects of the work. The teams must think strategically, creatively, and act as one when addressing issues with management.

This application is for the state-wide agency committee that will address the needs throughout the agency's sites. This is different than the site-based meet and confer teams that address issues specific to the location or work site.

A meet and confer team member must:

  • Be willing to have individual conversations at least once per pay period and participate in small group listening sessions with other agency employees to understand the issues people are facing at least once per quarter;
  • Know and relate to other agency employees;
  • Be able to commit to at least one full day each quarter of learning about issues and planning, in addition to the meeting with management;
  • Act in a team and be willing to address issues that may not directly benefit themselves;
  • Be willing to challenge management’s power in a productive manner.
