Friday, May 9, 2025 - 8am-5pmAdd to Calendar 2025-05-09 08:00:00 2025-05-09 17:00:00 MAPE Meet & Confer Summit 2025 The Meet and Confer Chairs Committee is hosting a Meet and Confer Summit open to all statewide agency and worksite meet and confer members on May 9th, 2025. Come spend the day with us focusing on all things Meet and Confer! MFT President Marcia Howard is the keynote speaker, and will kick off the summit with a dynamic presentation. We will spend the day building power through breakout sessions (see below) and end the day with an interactive exercise on holding management accountable. We look forward to seeing you there! Important deadlines: Hotel: If you qualify for a hotel room and need one, please register by end of day on April 16th to guarantee your reservation gets booked. If you miss the April 16th deadline but still need a hotel, please let us know and we can check the availability. Registration will be open until May 2nd at 12pm. After you register, you will receive a link to rank your preferences of break out sessions you'd like to participate in. For your reference, here are the descriptions of each: Workload Meet and Confers Description: In this class you will learn how the Meet and Confer teams can best support members as they navigate overwhelming workloads, short staffing, and reorganizations. In this class, we will discuss how best to communicate with steward groups, members, and the employer. Working with Stewards Description: In this class, you will learn how Meet and Confer Teams can work with MAPE Stewards to help identify, discuss, and overcome persistent issues. Meet and Confer Teams organizing with MAPE Stewards is a powerful way to grow your union and be effective in the workplace. Supplemental Bargaining Workshop Description: Supplemental bargaining will likely have started by the Summit on May 9th, so you can use this space to work on your proposals, learn best practices in contract language writing, and brainstorm with a team of experts on how to overcome barriers you may be having and reach a powerful tentative agreement (TA) with the employer. Make sure to bring your proposals and questions to this one! Organizing Campaigns and Meet and Confer Committees Description: In this class you will learn how the Meet and Confer teams can best use an organizing campaign to address issues in the workplace. This session will focus on the basics of what an organizing campaign is, the meet and confers role in them, and some tools for people to bring back to their agencies. Committee Planning 101 Description: Plan for your Meet and Confer Team to build power and succeed! We'll cover recruitment, roles, communication with members and with management, and best practices for your Meet and Confer if your worksite is partially or fully telework.
