Winning a fair contract begins with caucuses

To win a fair contract, we need a state budget that fully invests in the public good. We can shape the state budget by shaping the people who make it: state legislators. One of the most powerful tools we have to do that is the Caucus and Convention process, where parties decide their platform and endorse candidates for office. That's where decisions get made, so that's where MAPE members will be.

On Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., MAPE members across the state will attend Precinct Caucuses with the party they’re most aligned and become delegates to the Senate District/Organizing Unit endorsing conventions. Together, we will bring to political parties a Working People’s Agenda that includes priorities on raising revenue, lowering healthcare costs, winning more time, and protecting worker rights. We will shape party agendas and endorsements to ensure candidates for office are champions for the public good and committed to building a Minnesota where all workers, no matter our race, gender, geography or employer, can thrive.

This open gubernatorial race presents a fresh start in the political caucuses this year, and MAPE members could have a real impact on who winds up on the ballot. The Feb. 3 precinct caucuses allow members to shape a workers’ agenda and become delegates at the convention. Attend your caucus and determine your boss for next year and beyond! Participate in MAPE’s Caucus Training on Jan. 15. Register for the training
