MMB's economic package proposal would cost members money

Publish Date

We are halfway through day three of Push Week and still waiting for the Governor’s team from Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) to come back with a meaningful, updated economic proposal.

This morning, we advanced negotiations by presenting a new counterproposal on a non-economic package. The Governor’s team, on the other hand, continues to stall.

Today’s theme is solidarity, and we showed it with more than words. With AFSCME bargaining their contract right next door, our negotiators swapped t-shirts with theirs – MAPE in green, AFSCME in blue – to send a clear message that we are united in our fight against the State’s massive proposed health care cost increases. Check out the social post.

This unity is forcing the Governor’s team to change how they negotiate. We are challenging them to put forward a package that would be acceptable to the two largest bargaining units in the State.

If you haven’t been following along, now is a good time to catch up:

  • Monday video update
  • Tuesday video update
  • Watch our forceful response to the State's initial economic package that would leave members with up to $4,100 less in take-home pay.

After MMB presented that package, we texted members directly to ask for reactions. Our strike survey responses continue to grow, and your feedback was powerful enough that we shared it at the table. Here’s more of your responses.

If you haven’t taken the strike survey yet, now is the time. This isn’t a strike vote (yet). It’s a temperature check, but it’s one we need to take seriously if we want to stop these cuts from happening.

We are in this together, and we’re just getting started!

Solidarity,
