House Passes MAPE Contract

The Minnesota House of Representatives passed MAPE’s 2021-2023 contract today.  The State Labor Contracts bill, H.F. 3346, passed the House by 107-24.

"We are really blessed here in Minnesota with a great team that helps us do good work here,” bill author Rep. Leon Lille said. “I think it’s a testament for Minnesota that we’re having a bit of support on both sides of the aisle.”

Contracts are currently in interim effect. The contract still must pass the State Senate before the end of the legislative session on May 23.

MAPE’s Negotiations Committee worked for months to negotiate the contract with Minnesota Management and Budget. Thousands of members participated in meetings with the governor, supported the contract through social media and rallied for the contract at the State Capitol last year.

“Members participated in more than 100 meetings with legislators to ask them to support our contract during our recent Lobby Week. Their hard work paid off and we now must turn our sights to the contract passing in the Senate,” Negotiations Committee Chair Adam Novotny said.

“These contracts are negotiated between the governor and labor groups and they come to us and need to be passed to take care of the folks who take care of us and the good State of Minnesota,” said Rep. Lillie.

The State Senate has not yet scheduled a vote on the contract. It is important to contact your state Senator and ask them to support the contract. You can see where your Senator currently stands and craft your message accordingly. https://mape.org/contact-your-legislators
