Layoff notices to go to state employees because the Legislature has not passed a budget.
Government leaders must do their jobs and fully fund state agencies, MNState.

"Layoff notices will go out to state employees next week because the Legislature has not passed a budget. These notices may be conditional, but the harm is real. Workers will have to prepare for lost income, disrupted lives and a government shutdown that would impact every Minnesotan who relies on public services.

We hoped our elected officials in Minnesota would serve as a barrier to the dysfunction and chaos coming out of Washington. Instead, they’re choosing to compound the harm by putting political gridlock ahead of the stability our state deserves.

Our governor and our legislative leaders need to do their jobs and fully fund our agencies and Minnesota State. Stop balancing the budget on the backs of the very people who keep Minnesota running."

- MAPE President Megan Dayton

MAPE represents more than 18,000 professional state government employees and is Minnesota’s largest state government union.
