MAPE Special Elections and Call for Nominations

The national elections may be over, but your union still needs your votes! MAPE is holding its final nominations call for the year. Nominations are open for two statewide positions (trustee and Organizing Council), two regional director positions (Regions 5 and 6) and several local positions.

Nominations for all positions will close on Dec. 9 and voting will begin on Dec. 29. Voting will close on Jan. 12, 2021.

Members must send their nominations for the statewide positions and the regional director offices to MAPE Central on behalf of the Elections Committee (swelect@mape.org).

Local Presidents in locals that are conducting elections are asked to appoint a local nominations committee and a local election committee. Local nomination committees shall seek out and encourage qualified persons to run for local elective positions.

Members must send their nominations for local positions to their local election committee which will in turn forward the nominations to MAPE Central (swelect@mape.org). Please send the name and email address of all local election committees’ contact persons for the upcoming elections to swelect@mape.org.

All candidates must provide a personal statement no later than Dec. 28 or their name will not be placed on the ballot. All candidates must comply with the Social Media in Campaigns Policy at https://mape.org/resources/mape-documents/election-information.

The terms of local offices in even-numbered regions will be until May 31, 2021.  The terms of local offices in odd-numbered regions will be until May 31, 2022.
