MAPE Files Unfair Labor Practice Against Macalester College

Publish Date

Last week MAPE filed an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) against Macalester College for refusing to bargain in good faith. Contract negotiations have been going on for nine months and MAPE is still waiting for long-requested information about budget and wages.

According to the MAPE@Macalester Bargaining Team, “We are still concerned at how much time we are spending in caucus waiting for responses, the resulting slow pace of exchange and the fact that we still have not received information we have requested, including more info on the college’s budget and administration’s cost of our proposals.

“Most critically, our Employer is still demanding we give up our right to negotiate our wages and benefits and allow the college to change them at any time: less than the law requires. These patterns displayed over the past nine months informed our decision to pursue an unfair labor practice filing.”

The MAPE@Macalester Bargaining Team includes Adam Van der Sluis, Ginny Moran, Jacob Dorer, Jeff Conrod and Karl Snyder.
