Macalester bargaining update
The Macalester Administration has begun taking negotiations more seriously. While the MAPE @ Macalester Negotiations Team has not yet made great movement on specific proposals, the Macalester Administration appeared more interested and involved in the discussions. MAPE's approach has been to present proposals that reflect the current benefits and practices staff have and address core issues that came to light in a pre-bargaining survey - protecting things like staff vacation, holidays, flexible work, retirement and Dependent Tuition Assistance Program while addressing the challenges the lowest paid members of their bargaining unit have making ends meet.
So far, MAPE has sent 44 proposals across the table with the Macalester Administration giving us 25 proposals in return, most of which are in response to ours. All the proposals that have been presented by both sides so far are available on our Macalester Negotiations page.
