Four corrections staff injured in attack at Rush City Correctional Facility over the weekend

Publish Date

Four corrections staff were injured in a stabbing at Minnesota Correctional Facility-Rush City on Saturday during a routine cell search. We are grateful they are alive and recovering, and we extend our full support to them and their families.

Violence against corrections employees is never acceptable. Corrections staff put their lives on the line every day to keep Minnesotans safe. They deserve safe working conditions, staffing levels that prevent dangerous situations, the right equipment, and the assurance that those who attack them will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We will continue to fight for the staffing, resources, and policies corrections employees need to control the risks inherent in their work, and to ensure every one of them can go home safely at the end of their shift.
