  • Better pay: in the last two contracts, MAPE has negotiated an 9.75 percent cost of living adjustments in addition to available step increases

  • Paid Parental Leave: MAPE members, mothers and fathers, are eligible for six weeks paid parental leave following the birth or adoption of a child

 

A voice at work

  • Regular meet and confer meetings with management
  • Respectful Workplace Policy: following a three-year anti-bullying campaign, state employees secured a policy pledging a professional and respectful workplace

 

Advocating for members at the state legislature

  • Successfully fought against all repeated proposals cutting and outsourcing state jobs
  • Secured employer paid health care benefits for employees who become totally and permanently disabled as a result of an inmate, patient or client assault
  • Expansion of whistleblower protections for classified state employees
  • Successfully lobbied for largest pension reform in state’s history during 2018 session
