Bargaining Updates
For the first time in more than 30 years, MAPE negotiators were able to negotiate a double-digit total increase for its members in their 2023-2025 contract.
After a hard campaign, and a year of organizing and action, the negotiations team reached a tentative agreement with MMB.
Negotiations Co-chairs, Adam Novotny and Kristin Kirchoff-Franklin, MAPE President, Megan Dayton, MAPE Field Director, Mike Asums and MAPE Business Agent, Pete Marincel hosted a Negotiations Townhall to provide an update about bargaining after the last meeting with MMB.
As contract negotiations intensify, MAPE remains firm in advocating for a fair wage increase for state employees. Despite a record budget surplus and historic inflation levels, Minnesota Management and Budget’s (MMB) recent wage increase proposal fell far short of MAPE’s 10%/10% two-year wage increase request. Instead, MMB offered an increase of 2% in the first year, followed by a meager 1.5% in the second year. This proposition was met with strong disappointment during the last contract bargaining session on May 23-24.
MAPE’s Negotiations Team bargaining the 2023-2025 contract spent an intense and frustrating two days with Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) representatives May 11-12.
The MAPE and MMB bargaining teams exchanged proposals several times. MMB representatives agreed to none of MAPE’s nine proposals, signaled openness to a couple of them without agreeing to any contract language and refused to respond to any proposals they considered to have an economic cost.
MAPE Negotiations Committee members are beginning serious negotiations with Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) on the 2023-2025 contract representing more than 16,000 employees. MAPE negotiators are debating the merits of MMB’s proposals as well as evaluating some of their own.
Negotiations Co-chairs, Adam Novotny and Kristin Kirchoff-Franklin, MAPE President, Megan Dayton and MAPE Business Agent, Pete Marincel hosted a Negotiations Townhall where they covered key topics including how the process has gone so far, the proposals, what happens next and how you can get involved.
MAPE’s Negotiations Committee began meeting with the bargaining team from Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) on April 11 regarding MAPE’s 2023-2025 contract. Gov. Tim Walz was present to hear MAPE’s presentation of its nine proposals.
