MAPE scholarships available for members and their families
MAPE is again offering thousands of dollars in educational scholarships to members and their families. Four scholarships are available for members, and one for their spouses and dependents. Groups of members may also apply for the scholarships.
Professional employees need ongoing training to maintain their competency, enhance their professional development and fulfill their continuing education requirements. Training opportunities are rapidly shrinking in the public sector, making it increasingly difficult for professional employees to have their training needs met.
A sub-group of the MAPE’s board of directors recently updated the scholarship policy and simplified the application process. “It’s important for the union to give back to members and their dependents to show we care about their professional and personal growth,” Region 11 Director Jessica Raptis said.
“Especially this year with COVID-19 affecting all of us, many employees may be trying to find ways to increase their professional development and we think it’s important to find ways to help cover those costs,” Raptis added.
Applications may be submitted beginning on June 1 through 5 p.m. on June 30. More information about the scholarships and the application forms are available here: www.mape.org/scholarships.
