DOC chief: Senate public safety bill would lead to 'increased risks to safety'

MAPE has significant concerns with the Senate’s budget bills and how they will impact the quality of life and safety of our members and Minnesotans.

Just one example is from a recent Star Tribune article: the Senate public safety bill that would lead to 'increased risks to safety." 

“If this budget becomes a reality, the DOC is required to cut essential programming within our facilities to make up for this healthcare funding shortfall — including behavioral health and treatment programming,” Minnesota Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell wrote. “With these cuts from the Senate proposal will come increased risks to safety.”
