July 1 Minutes approved.
Stephanie Meyer reviewed resolutions for Delegate Assembly in September. Members voted if 902 Delegates should support the resolution discussed.
Summary:
- Resolution concerning paying off the MAPE building – unanimously approved
- Resolution concerning resolutions being able to be voted and put forth by a local or a region – abstain
- Resolution concerning increasing the frequency of MAPE Board meetings from once every 6 weeks to monthly – unanimously opposed
- Resolution concerning changes in election rules – abstain
- Resolution concerning posting election results on the public website – unanimously approved
- Resolution concerning having a professional parliamentarian attend MAPE Board meetings – unanimously opposed
- Resolution concerning vacation donation policies (put forth by Local 902) – support continued
- Resolution concerning guidelines for MAPE donations – change was made from 2/3 of local presidents to 2/3 Board
- Resolution concerning changing the MAPE professional staff to State employees who receive leave of absences to serve MAPE – unanimously opposed
- Resolution concerning MAPE establish a charity fund through which members could make donations to specified charities – unanimously opposed
- Resolution concerning a decrease in dues – unanimously approved
- Resolution concerning have MAPE Business Agents offices located in greater Minnesota – majority abstain
- Resolution concerning recognition of May Day as a holiday – majority opposed
- Resolution concerning support to the right of workers to unionize – abstain
- Resolution concerning employees not having to pay what is currently the state’s portion of their health insurance if the employee is on extended leave due to an accident or illness (put forth by Local 902) – support continued
- Resolution concerning removing 1% of the current amount that goes into employee’s healthcare savings accounts – majority oppose
- Resolution concerning employees receive a set amount for benefits (regardless of family status) and purchase benefits from the state – majority oppose

Sandy Dunn – MAPE Board
$35 million in surplus health insurance which will be returned to the employees, $250 per employee as healthcare flex spending as of January 1, 2009. However unlike most flex spending this will not expire. Healthcare premiums will be reduced for 2009.
