The meeting was called to order at 12:02 p.m. by Duane Galles, due to the illness of Jennifer Erickson, President of Local 603. 
The Minutes of the meetings on April 18 and May 7 (a joint meeting with Local 601), 2008, which had been printed and distributed, were approved as corrected.
The Treasurer presented his report, which showed an actual balance as of $9,585.40 as of June 30, 2008, and a monthly excess of expenses over income of $62.99. 
The Secretary reported that he had nothing beyond the minutes to report.
The Secretary mentioned items from the President’s written report.

• The President and Secretary had attended the MAPE Leadership Workshop in April.

• Our Local could use a Hospitality Chairman (to order food for the meetings) and a Vice President.

 

• The President and Micah Asher took the June steward training and are now stewards, along with Bob Mayer, Hanz Lehrke, and Duane Galles.

The need was mentioned to elect an Alternate to the September MAPE Delegate Assembly (The President is automatically a Delegate). It was moved, seconded and agreed to that Bob Mayer be elected Alternate and that the Treasurer be authorized to pay reasonable expenses.
In the absence of John Gilbertson, there was no Director’s Report.
Joe McMahon, our new MAPE Business Agent was then introduced.  He made a short presentation which included comments about health insurance and evocations.  There were also questions about the salary details of state employees published by the St Paul Pioneer Press.
It was noted that our August meeting would be a joint one with the Locals of Region 6 for an information session regarding the proposal regarding use of the strike fund to pay off the mortgage on MAPE’s building.
The meeting adjourned at 12:35 p.m.
