Monthly Meeting Minutes- May 1, 2008

Meeting called to order by President Judy Gibson at 12:03 p.m.  Other officers present: Gary Johnson, Chief Steward Region 5, Vice President Dave Mastbergen, Treasurer Carol Walsh, Regional Director Dean Gunderson.

President Gibson made remarks reminding members that May 1st is International Workers’ Day around the world.  Camp Wellstone is scheduled for May 30th and 31st.   There is basic steward training and intermediate training in June and Advanced training scheduled for October.  

Vice President Mastbergen gave an update on nominations for officers as follows:

Treasurer Walsh reported a balance of $12,804.00 and our checking account balance of $1,180.13.  The Friends of the Library Untold Stories continues this month which MAPE has now co-sponsored for several years

Region 5 Director Gunderson reported on recent board actions including continued discussions on the recent State Budget Crisis and efforts to increase statewide membership.

MSP:  To donate $500.00 from Local 501 to the American Cancer Society Walk for Life team for member Sandy Christenson

Joe McMahon was introduced as Region 501’s assigned Business Agent and he gave a presentation on FMLA.
