Draft Local 0202 Meeting Minutes

President – Cheryl Dawley called the meeting to order at 12:03 pm. Members are needed to serve on the MAPE Budget and Service Cuts Task Force. MAPE members interested should contact Patty Fadden via e-mail at pfadden@mape.org by Tuesday, July 15.  MAPE’s Finance Committee plans to make the recommendation to the Delegate Assembly regarding Crisis (strike) Fund to pay off the mortgage on the MAPE building.  Applications for MAPE scholarships will be accepted through July 31.  Details are posted on the MAPE Web site.  Delegate Assembly: When resolutions are posted, an email with details will be sent out.

Vice President – Steve Katz commented on the recent secret ballot commercials, denouncing the ads and explained the proposed Employee Free Choice law.

Secretary – Minutes of the June meeting were approved by general consent.

Treasurer – Kathy Nordstrom, absent, no report

Membership Secretary – Teresa Washington reported:  New member(s): Mary Gallagher.  Membership is at 89.4%.

Chief Steward – Cheryl Dawley on behalf of Alejandro Maldonado welcomed 3 new stewards: Joe Banken, Stacey Simpson and Steve Katz.

Regional Director – Charles Hawkins, absent, no report

Business Agent – Sheila Pokorny, no grievances, discussed positions cut from State Operated Services, reminder that ballots are due at MAPE’s P.O.Box by July 11th, lost time organizer brought in and reminder: resolutions for Delegate Assembly.

Meet and Confer – Ken Bearman on behalf of Steve Katz, reported shortened minutes now posted on MAPE’s website.  Discussion included meeting new administrators, budget talks, computing mileage for employees who work from remote locations and the RNC route.

Team MAPE – Cathleen Cotter discussed talking to candidates, endorsement list, a petition from another local regarding revoking endorsement of a candidate and presentation for DA.

New Business – Grassroots website block
