MAPE Local 1901 Meeting Minutes
July 11, 2008
Administration Building of the SPRTC Campus
Meeting called to order: at 12:06 pm by President Glen Peterson and he handed the Gaffle to new President Ray Knutson. Paul Holte was given his certificate for election to the Delegate Assembly.
Approval of last meeting minutes: Minutes from June 13, 2008 meeting approved.
Treasurers Report, Melanie Wurtzberger: Ray Knutson gave the report.
Secretary, Stacy Christensen: Nothing to report
President Ray Knutson: Tabled to new business
Vice President, Pat Kuehl: Nothing to report
Business Agent Report: Kathy Fodness:
• Attends the monthly SOS meeting in St. Paul and would like a representative from St. Peter to also attend.
• All members are encouraged to read DHS MOU in the contract. Glen Peterson gave the history of DHS MOU from start, “it has always worked well for the State & MAPE.”
• There will be a “Town Meeting” and everyone is encouraged to be there, so please watch for the notice of this meeting.
• Everyone is encouraged to call or e-mail your legislators.
• There was a long of discussion on the Lay-offs and cuts.
• Kathy also reported on active grievances.
New Business:
• Motion made to authorize lost time & expense for a 1901 MAPE member to attend SOS meetings in St. Paul – Passed. Gary Wass volunteered to attend the meetings.
• Local 1902 invited 1901 to attend their summer picnic on July 16, 08.
• Motion made for 1901 to pay for 1/3 of the cost for our Chief Steward to go to a training – Passed.
• Motion made to purchase 3 Flash drives for Local 1901 officers– Passed.
• Glen Peterson was given a certificate for long-term activity within MAPE.
• State of MN, “ride-share program” is on the web.
• Ray re-emphasized the need to be active & vocal in dealing with the proposed budget cuts.
Attendance Drawing: $10 to Heather Bangu.
Next Meeting: Friday August 15, 08 SPRTC Administration Building, MOJ room at Noon.
