Local 1502 Minutes

Treasurer’s Report: 

Local 1502 has approximately $7300.00.


Election Committee: 

Please send nominations to JoDee Haugrud (haugrud@mnstate.edu) or  Judy Gildersleve (judy.gildersleeve@state.mn.us) who have volunteered to handle this activity.

All nominations are closed on May 19th.

Local 1502 Officer Nominations:

As you can see we need a nomination for President of the local as well as for an alternate to the Delegate Assembly. Please consider volunteering. (It was approved that 1502 would send and alternate to the delegate assembly this year. It will be held in Rochester this year.)

 

HCSA (Health Care Savings Account) update: 

The state has turned down our proposal to put this in place, even though we proved it would save them money.

AFL- CIO affiliation:

The MAPE board has appointed a subcommittee to review an affiliation to any other organization. Please refer to the MAPE web site for further information.

Chief Steward Update:  

We need more stewards. Bryan Kotta, as chief steward for Region 15, would like to have a steward at each work site if possible. To start this process 1502 will have Basic steward training, in the Northwest area, within the next few months.  We currently have 7 people wanting to attend the training. 10 or more is the number that we would like to have. This training will most likely be held on a Wednesday. It is 6 hours long. Lost time and travel will be reimbursed.  Please contact

State Pensions: 

The bills that were designed to allow the state to use the pension fund money for numerous ways have been dropped for now. This issue will most likely come up again.

MAPE Hay Study Lawsuit: 

Approximately 70 percent of the MAPE membership may be affected by the outcome of this case. Please refer to the MAPE web site for details.
