July 2, 2008 -The meeting was called to order at 12:05pm

MAPE Reports:
BOD Report – Mark Vidas, Region 11 Director – handout provided and review of highlights given for 6/27/08 BOD meeting. BOD meeting packets will be available to local president upon request. The 2009 MAPE budget was presented and passed as amended. It will go to 2008 Delegate Assembly.

BA Report - Joe McMahon: reported that investigations are up statewide; budgets are tight and agencies have been directed to cut 3-4% over next 2 years. Layoffs: 210 – 9 are MAPE of which 4 would return to AFSCME; views are split on proposed payoff of MAPE Central bldg.

Local Officers’ Reports:
President/Vice President: membership: 89 members; local 1102 is currently in 3rd place for % of full share members.
Treasurer: Absent – no report available
Secretary: May 28th minutes were approved as written.

Suggested agenda items for the Meet and Confer meeting 7/10/08:
-request ombudsman not be at town hall meeting
-budget update - ? layoffs
-status of chaplain positions
-update on administrator positions
-concern over treatment space lost in bldg 17
-how is the pharmacy move proceeding?
-any new project updates
*suggestion made for the new officers to attend as well for introductions

Member Comments:
-send cards to Jo Osterkamp and Fae Wilson who are out on leave
-concern over negative commercials regarding unions led to discussion of Employee Free Choice Act
-compliment given to Susan Parenteau for being Local 1102 president for 4 years
-reminder that Negotiations rep election going on
