Local 1101 Minutes

Minutes of the Local 1101 meeting held Thursday, August 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Abetto’s Pizza, 560 Como Avenue, St. Paul.

President Ann Hill called the meeting to order at 11:37.

Minutes from last meeting approved by consensus.

Membership Report – Howard Cutts reported 191 full members and 110 fair shares, for a total of  301 in Local (63.5% full).  Ann Hill announced that the Membership committee is looking for more helpers in doing full-share recruitment.  Contact Ann or any committee member (Sarah Hustad, Mark Vidas, Kathy Fodness) if interested.

Treasurer's Report - Treasurer Howard Cutts reported $895.92 in the checkbook and $19,680 in the Local 1101 bank account at MAPE. 

Board of Directors (BOD) Report - Region 11 Director Mark Vidas:  
                *      BOD meeting held 8/8/08
                *      Discussed continued membership in Fair Trade Coalition.
                *      Motion defeated asking MAPE President Chet Jorgenson to write letter to Mary Rowles offering rescindment of contract as entertainment for Delegate Assembly.
                *      Approved the new donations policy for MAPE charitable contributions.
                *      Recommended the Delegate Assembly approve the 2009 Legislative Core Priorities from the Government Relations Committee.
                *      Affirmed the action of the Joint Labor/Management Committee on a tentative agreement regarding the SEGIP surplus.
                *      Contributed $7500 from the Coalition Budget for Alliance for a Better Minnesota, and education campaign advocating the election of Al Franken for US Senator.
                *       Discussed Membership Drive in Region 18 and its results.
                *       Discussed MAPE Budget and Service Task Force.
                *       Presentations were made by the Minnesota Fair Trade Coalition and Hunger Solutions.

MAPE Business Agent's Report - Kathy Fodness
                *      Kathy has had several contacts with employees at the 2829 University Avenue location.  She worked on a flex plan with some.  There is a new grievance there.  The employees at 2829 University are wondering when MAPE will return for another meet and greet.
               *       Working on building up the steward base.
               *         Next membership recruitment event planned for MDH-date TBD.

Old Business - None

New Business
 *         We will present resolutions for Delegate Assembly at next meeting and discuss.  People are encouraged to look up resolutions on MAPE website.
 *         MSP (Cutts) to reimburse Mark Vidas 3 hours lost time spent picking up food, etc for last meeting.

Next meeting will be September 11, 2008 11:30 a.m. at State Services for the Blind, 2200 University Avenue West, St. Paul MN.

Attendance incentive drawings:

$260 "pot" – Annette Toews was drawn - not present to win so the "pot" becomes $290 for September's meeting.
$30 monthly – Maurita Christenson was drawn and received her $30 prize.
